Standarized Exam
What does It Mean?

The GMAT is a standardized exam, that is, it is administered under the same conditions for all examinees. One of the reasons academic institutions can use GMAT scores to compare various candidates is that the exam is given in the same way to everyone who takes it. As a result, there are very specific rules regarding behavior at the test center. You must understand that these rules are inflexible, and that there can be no exceptions.

The rules by which the exam is conducted are applied throughout the exam, from the moment you arrive at the test center, through the breaks, to the moment you leave. Any rule violation will be documented by the test administrators and reported to Pearson VUE, the body administering the test on behalf of GMAC, which oversees the GMAT exams.

You must agree to all the terms and rules at the exam registration and on arrival at the test center, before you can begin the exam. Once the exam begins, you will be bound by all terms and rules in the information bulletin. If you have a question that is not answered here or in the bulletin, you can contact the GMAT customer service.
